Wedding Photography San DiegoWith so many wedding locations in San Diego, California and the rising cost of getting married, some couples opt to get married on military bases. Working with a couple who where married on the Naval base on Coronado Island (San Diego), they where able to save money on their wedding and reception site, while still capturing some excellent wedding photography. The base itself rests on the beach and while the wedding took place a few hundred yard from the beach, the couple and I left the base for about an hour after the ceremony to capture some photos at a local park on Coronado Island.

As you can tell form the wedding photo of the couple, Coronado Island has a clear view of the San Diego skyline, making this image of the bride and groom stand out. While the base may not have such a backdrop, there are nice spots around the wedding site to photograph the bride and groom as well as family.

If you’re looking to have an affordable wedding venue and you have a family member who is in the military ( I believe it’s required to rent the wedding facility on the naval base), you may want to consider having your wedding on the base.

When interviewing photographers, you may want to make sure they are willing to leave the base to capture images on Coronado Island (where the base is) and see how long they are willing to stay. You can capture some nice night wedding photography as well.

Below, you can view some of the wedding photography for the day in San Diego (on Coronado Island and the Naval Base).
